I retired from the City of Austin in 2020 after serving as a Senior Planner within the Development Services Department. With more than three decades of professional experience, I subsequently founded Land Status Consulting, LLC in response to continued requests for guidance from former clients who had relied on my expertise during my tenure with the city.

The Development Services Department has undergone significant changes in recent years, and the impacts of COVID‑19 have transformed the way we all conduct business, creating challenges across the industry. Land Status Consulting was founded on decades of experience in land development, planning, and regulatory processes throughout Central Texas, and we provide comprehensive support in preparing Land Status Determinations to assist clients in securing Platting Exceptions. Built on a foundation of public‑sector expertise and long‑standing relationships with local jurisdictions, our firm was established to meet the growing need for clear, accurate, and reliable land status guidance. What began as a response to former clients seeking continued support has evolved into a trusted resource for property owners, developers, and real estate professionals across the region.

Our services include submitting the project through the City’s permitting database, the ABC Portal, paying all required review fees, and managing the project through the entirety of the review process. We coordinate directly with City staff to address any questions or concerns that may arise. In addition, we assist real estate professionals by providing a Basic Land Status Report, which supports them in marketing their properties and advising clients on potential development opportunities. We prepare the application and conduct comprehensive research, including deed history, zoning, lot size, frontage requirements, and the identification of historical utility records.
